More than twenty-five years´ experience

During the mid-seventies, the student of Sinology Klaus Gaiser, returned from his study visits in East Asia. Sojourns in Japan, China and Indonesia allowed him to acquire a

profound knowledge about the traditional manufacturing methods of Chinese and Japanese food. Therewith he was enabled to pave the way to his most successful activities concerning the development of the today´s well-known products.

Tofu pioneer in Germany

In 1978, just a few months after his second trip to Asia, he held the first self-made chunk of tofu in his hands. Initially only friends knew its promise, but due to the brisk demand he felt encouraged to offer his tofu products to health food stores.

Finding back to Wheat

The restless inventor didn't let the matter rest on tofu and set himself a new pioneering challenge: the further development of seitan, a traditional Asian aliment made of wheat protein, to create an organic, vegan product which is simple to prepare and cook.

The result: Wheaty® – a new vegetarian cooking culture

TOPAS has adopted the Chinese-Japanese seitan tradition and transfered it to our western type of cooking. In the meantime Wheaty® comprises a unique product range, all based on organic wheat protein with the characteristically hearty and spicy taste and firm texture, that make Wheaty®  a perfect meat substitute.

Wheaty® cold cuts, ready meals and sausages: all our products are as quick and easy to prepare as they are wholesome and delicious.

ToPAS today

Together with his wife, Sanni Ikola-Gaiser, Klaus Gaiser built up a family business, which has meanwhile evolved into an internationally active company: 40 km southerly of the provincial capital Stuttgart, more than 20 employees attend to the production of Wheaty®, to administration, sales and marketing.

Although TOPAS has continued to grow through the years, the couple is still committed to unexceptionally purchasing organic, GM-free commodities from European producers, to meet their high quality standards and to provide for a high grade of transparency for trade customers and consumers.

The traceability of all raw materials at any time is a must!
